Seacoast enjoys a brisk September

By John W. Rice, 2012 NH Association of REALTORS president

PORTSMOUTH-Residential and Condominium closings throughout the 13 sample seacoast towns enjoyed a brisk rally last month. Residential sales were up 20.7% from August and condos surged 16.7% from the previous month, according to the Seacoast Board of REALTORS.

Residential sales were spurred by a strong showing in the $400,000 to $700,000 price range where the 23 transfers were three more than the year's previous high set in July. There was also a new yearly high in the $700,000 to $1 million range. The six recorded transactions were two more than the previous high of four set in June. Overall, September was 7.7% ahead of September 2010 and brought the total number of single family sales for the year to 571 against 567 in 2010 after three quarters.

September condo sales were up a hefty 84.2% from a year ago as the final third quarter totals matched this year's second quarter totals of 95 sales. For the year, however, the grand total condo transactions declined 7.5% (248 vs 268).
